Aortic Arch Reconstruction in pediatric patients, - surgical techniques and their improvement
المستخلص
The presented study is retrospective and aimed to investigate the impact of different perfusion strategies for aortic arch reconstruction on surgical outcomes. Methods: Retrospective review of pediatric patients with congenital aortic arch anomalies necessitating repair on cardiopulmonary bypass. Results: Perfusion strategies with global perfusion (selective myocardial perfusion, regional antegrade cerebral perfusion and descending aortic perfusion) during aortic arch repair lead to improved surgical outcomes by avoidance of deep hypothermia and regional ischemia. Conclusions: Refinement of surgical techniques and perfusion strategies enable an adequate end organ perfusion during surgical repair of complex aortic arch anomalies resulting in improved outcomes.
