Abstract

Background:
Avatar-assisted educational videos offer an innovative approach to medical teaching, blending visual aids, interactivity, and personalized learning. By using AI-driven or pre-programmed avatars, traditional educational videos are transformed into dynamic tools that engage medical students more effectively. These avatars guide students through complex topics, making the learning process more interactive and tailored to individual needs.

Methods:
A series of educational videos were developed using the Synthesia platform. Links to the videos were provided to students at least one day before scheduled teaching sessions. During the sessions, formal feedback was collected to assess the effectiveness of AI-assisted teaching videos. The feedback explored how these videos supported student learning and engagement.

Results:
Avatar-assisted videos proved particularly effective for medical subjects such as anatomy, physiology, and pathology, which often involve intricate and detailed content. These videos utilized 3D models and animations to demonstrate complex processes, such as organ functions, surgical procedures, and disease progression. Avatars highlighted key anatomical structures and explained medical interventions step-by-step, helping students better understand challenging concepts.
The flexibility of avatar-assisted videos, available anytime and anywhere, proved beneficial for students managing clinical duties or those in remote locations. By introducing topics through these videos, students could focus more effectively on practical aspects during teaching sessions. The videos enhanced their knowledge and skills, and students came to the sessions better prepared, often with relevant questions about the material.

Conclusion:
Incorporating avatars into educational videos creates a more interactive, personalized, and immersive learning environment. This approach enhances students' understanding and engagement, better preparing them for practical skills and real-world clinical practice
