Comparative Analysis of Jung’s Anima–Animus and the Estrophrodite–Androphrodite Archetypes
المستخلص
The present paper introduces the Estrophrodite–Androphrodite archetypes, a theoretical model expanding upon Jung’s anima–animus framework. While Jung’s contrasexual archetypes offer insight into inner masculine and feminine dynamics, they remain limited by gender specificity and cultural assumptions. The Estrophrodite and Androphrodite archetypes, by contrast, are universal, spiritually grounded, and present within all individuals. The Estrophrodite embodies the universal feminine principle, encompassing nurturing, receptivity, creativity, and inspiration, while the Androphrodite embodies the universal masculine principle, reflecting guidance, structure, assertiveness, and transformative capacity. Together, these archetypes function as “other-selves,” guiding life path, vocation, and relational dynamics. This paper compares the Estrophrodite–Androphrodite framework with Jungian, Freudian, and Adlerian theories, highlighting points of convergence and divergence, and emphasizing the integrative potential of the model. Integration of these archetypes is essential for psychological balance; failure may result in projection, identity conflict, psychosomatic manifestations, and relational dysfunction. Pathways for integration, including shadow work, sublimation, therapeutic engagement, and spiritual practice, are discussed. The paper concludes that the Estrophrodite–Androphrodite archetypes provide a comprehensive, culturally inclusive, and spiritually anchored framework for understanding the human psyche and fostering personal growth.
