Results-Based Management, Risk & Compliance
From activity to measurable result — with risk managed and compliance assured
Organizational measurement often tracks activity, not results: number of workshops, beneficiaries or reports. These numbers are true but say little about real change. Results-based management shifts measurement from documenting activity to documenting impact.
You unpack the results chain of an existing program, surface and test its implicit assumptions, move from indicator titles to complete indicator cards with baselines and targets, and finish by designing an M&E system and a leadership-facing performance dashboard.
Because results are never delivered in a risk-free environment, the module also covers building, assessing and treating a risk register, linking key risk indicators to KPIs, and designing controls and compliance monitoring against policies and regulations.
An indicator only becomes an indicator with a definition, a formula, a data source and a measurement frequency — that is what the hands-on work locks down.
What you will learn
- Build a coherent results chain and logic model.
- Surface implicit change assumptions and test their logic.
- Write complete indicator cards with realistic baselines and targets.
- Design an M&E and learning system that informs decisions on time.
- Build a risk register and link key risk indicators to KPIs.
- Design controls and monitor compliance with policies and regulations.
- Prepare a dashboard that shows results and risks, not activities.
Within its governance, risk and compliance topics, the program draws on recognized international standards and frameworks, including ISO 31000 (risk management), ISO 37000 (governance of organizations) and the COSO framework for internal control and enterprise risk management.
